Emily Blue is going through somewhat of an evolution. Once an indie darling in Tara Terra, then a commanding solo artist and now a self-identified “glitch pop” icon — Blue wears a lot of artistic hats and isn’t afraid to disrupt genre conventions to make something truly unique.

“Bad Decisions,” Blue’s first single since the release of her candy-coated and dystopic *69 EP, is an unapologetic ode to making mistakes. With the music video, Blue constructs her futuristic queer pop universe: one that’s an early-internet green-screen fantasy and a technicolor pity party of her own making.

The video’s production is remarkable, featuring Emily Blue branded Mountain Dew Bottles, holographic bubble baths and 8-bit animations that will make you nostalgic for the days of Blingee avatars on MySpace profiles.

“Bad Decisions” harkens to the fun and over-the-top sensibilities of pop music videos without losing out on a real sense of sincerity.
