holy well
by Ena Laughlin
go back to ireland
find my purple hair tie still
hanging from a branch
above a holy well
unscathed by the driving
wind and rain blessed
mother tell me
where i came from
and where i’m meant to go
touch my head
and hands to the earth
while i question
if i even believe in that stuff
listen for a heartbeat
